| Student's death at NYOS School investigated
For the first time, state agencies are speaking about the investigation into a little boy's fatal injury at school. Friends and family are preparing to lay 7-year-old Tevin Park-Flowers to rest, more than a week after a teacher found him suspended from a bathroom hook at NYOS Charter School.Police were first on scene when the teacher found Tevin in cardiac arrest, but the investigation extends beyond the Austin Police Department."Anytime there's a concern with a possibility of abuse or neglect at school... CPS conducts that investigation," said Chris Van Deusen, spokesperson for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, the parent agency of CPS.Like police, CPS is interviewing students, staff, and parents."We operate completely on the civil side of the law, and it's really about making sure children are safe," said Van Deusen.It will likely take more than two months for CPS to complete its report, which will be sent to NYOS and state education authorities, including the Texas Education Agency.

Latest updates on Techwood Drive closing
Beginning Saturday and extending through the summer of 2009, Techwood Drive, a north-south access road beside the Downtown Connector, is closed from 16th Street to 10th Street. With the closure, the southbound ramps from I-75 and I-85 to 14th and 10th streets also are shut off. For drivers heading south from I-85, the beginning of the ramp will still be open to exit to 17th Street. From I-75, DOT says southbound drivers technically still can exit onto 16th Street, but the small streets could be such a mess they should forget about it, and exit at Northside Drive. The worst of the traffic is expected Monday, when most people return to work. But the impact has been felt already. 5:45 p.m.: A little slowdown, some confusion, DOT says Crystal Paulk-Buchanan, spokeswoman for the Georgia Department of Transportation, said the first day of construction and street closings went smoothly.

According to a survey of the top 20 buying destinations by A Place in the Sun magazine earlier this month, the country has taken the number one spot for the second year running. He did it well, too, pumping out a tight set that turned the massive crowd here into a sea of bouncing heads. Hip-hop/R&B group Next took the stage after Pokafase. They pretty much walked off the red carpet and onto the stage. Joey Fatone just walked by me. Anyway, Next sounded impeccable. Their smooth groove was perfect for slow dancing in this brisk weather. They ended their set with their single "Wifey," and left the stage to DJ Roonie G, who spun a scribble fest filled with fierce beats and samples from everyone from Kanye West to Prince. The crowd is going nuts behind me. Somebody's screaming for Jennifer Love-Hewitt. Not sure if she's actually here. We'll be getting Diddy with it shortly. We hope. .
